No Charging Boost? Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 Rumors Suggest 25W Again

The Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 might not get a charging speed upgrade and might stick to last year’s 25W wired charging speeds. However, both could receive a bump in battery capacity, improving the battery experience regardless of the charging speeds. Samsung is among the industry’s best at tuning chipsets for battery life, as we’ve already seen with the S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra. They outrank competitors with similar batter capacities thanks to excellent software optimization.

According to a report from MyFixGuide, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 have recently received a critical Chinese certification. From this certification, we can judge that regulatory bodies officially tested these phones for 25W charging. We can also conclude that the Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 will support at least 25W charging. This is the same as last year.

The Flip 5 has a 3700mAh battery with 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The wireless numbers might go up in the case of Qi2 certification. The Z Fold 5 has a 4400mAh battery with the same wired and wireless charging speeds. From the spotted certification, we can assume there isn’t an improvement in charging wattage. However, we can still expect larger batteries.

same 25W

The model number for the charger is EP-TA800, a Samsung 25W charger. It’s important to note that just because the certification mentions 25W charging, that doesn’t mean the phone will only support a maximum of 25W. It just means that the phone was tested for 25W. There’s a slim chance this isn’t a final confirmation of charging speeds. However, Samsung wouldn’t have tested it with 25W in the first place if it had support for higher speeds unless they plan to test it later.

If they bring 45W charging (same as the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra) to the Z series. Only the more expensive Fold 6 could get it. There are strong rumors that Samsung will launch two foldable phones this time. One is a Z Fold 6, and the other is a Fold 6 FE. The more expensive one will mostly have faster charging.

We expect these phones to launch at a Galaxy Unpacked event in July. The Flip will get a battery boost and potentially a better outer display. The Fold could get Gorilla Glass Armor, 16GB RAM, a Titanium frame, the 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip, a better and wider aspect ratio, and more. Samsung will cut some costs for the cheaper foldable model.

Many assume that Samsung hesitates to significantly boost charging speeds because of the Galaxy Note 7 battery incident. They haven’t gone beyond 45W, even for their slab phones. Other manufacturers have adopted much faster 67W charging, even on foldable phones. It’s high time that Samsung catches up with others regarding charging speeds.
