The Z Flip 5 is also one of the most durable and reliable Flip phones in the market. It features an IPX8 rating, and the hinge is really strong. The phone also has Samsung’s signature software experience and a long update promise. While there weren’t many problems with the Z Flip 5, the camera hardware could’ve been better. The battery life is good, but it’s nowhere near comparable slab phones at this price range.
With the Z Flip 6, Samsung might fix many of these issues. The Z Flip 5 already has one of the best outer screens for a Flip phone, and the upcoming one might make it even better and more practical. The Z Flip 6 was spotted on the BIS certification website, and it’s set to launch soon.

The Flip 5 and Fold 5 were announced at the second Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2023. Samsung’s second event is typically after H1, so the Z series flagships for 2024 will also get their announcements in July 2024, and they might share the stage with the Galaxy Ring and the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Should you wait for the Galaxy Z Flip 6?
The Z Flip 6 seems like a good camera upgrade and fixes everything wrong with the Flip 5. It will have a larger primary sensor for faster capture time, more details, better videos, and better low-light imagery. It will fix the battery gripes with a larger physical battery. It’ll also have the latest chip and a lot more updates. It doesn’t make sense to buy the Flip 5 at full price, and we recommend waiting for the Flip 6.
