The Galaxy Z Flip 5 was a major upgrade from the Flip 4, unlike the Fold 5. The Flip 5 has better overall battery life thanks to the more efficient 8 Gen 2 chip while performing better. The Z Flip 5 also takes better pictures thanks to a better ISP, and the new waterdrop style hinge is much more durable, and the crease is less visible.
Another key upgrade was to the rear- there’s a new 3.6″ outer mini-screen for quick tasks. This tiny outer screen promotes digital well-being since people do not have to open the inner screen for most tasks. The only major remaining complaints with the Z Flip 5 were the camera hardware and the battery life- which was decent enough but couldn’t last an entire day on heavier usage. For the 999$ flagship price tag, people were expecting better battery life.
After discontinuing the Galaxy Note lineup, Samsung has replaced the second major launch of the year with its Fold & Flip series and some new accessories. The second Galaxy Unpacked event will include the Z Fold 6, the Z Flip 6, and a potential new Z Fold 6 FE.
According to a new leak from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will finally get bigger physical battery capacities. One way to improve the battery life is with hyper-efficient chips and very refined software. With One UI’s optimization, the Z Flip 6 will get a larger physical battery. The efficient 8 Gen 3 (or Exynos 2400) means good news for the battery life.
The report states that the Z Flip 6 will feature two batteries. One of them (the smaller one) is a 1097mAh capacity cell, and the other is a 2790mAh cell. Together, that’ll give you 3887mAh of battery capacity thanks to the new dual-battery system. The Galaxy S24 similarly has a 3880mAh battery that Samsung advertises as a 4000mAh battery, and such approximations are common. They might advertise the Z Flip 6 as having a 4000mAh battery.
We also expect camera hardware upgrades, primarily launching around June or July 2024. They’ll also mostly ship with the Galaxy AI features we saw on the S24 lineup.
