One UI is one of the best Android experiences, gaining new functionality with One UI 6.0.
One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 brought a new Quick Setting design, improved animations, and deeper lockscreen customizations. One UI 6.1 marked the debut of Galaxy AI with the Galaxy S24 series, which later reached the Galaxy S22 and S23 series.
It seems that Samsung has started prepping for the next major release of its software skin, which will go live for users later this year.
The reliable Samsung leaker, Tarun Vats (via @tarunvats33 on X/Twitter), has dug up the first internal testing builds for One UI 7.0, with the following build version numbers: S928BXXU2BXE2/ S928BOXM2BXE2/ S928BXXU2BXD4.
Here, S928 refers to Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the letter “B” refers to the region, which is Europe in this case. Hence, the company seems to have started working on One UI 7.0 software builds for the Galaxy S24 Ultra sold in Europe.
As expected, One UI 7.0 will be based on Android 15 and might deepen the AI integration on Samsung phones. It is also expected to bring further improvements to UI animations.
It is to be noted that this does not mean that a public beta is imminent. As per earlier rumors, the One UI 7.0 public beta program is not expected to start before August 2024.
As for the devices eligible to receive the One UI 7.0 update, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be joined by a ton of older Samsung flagships and foldables, going as far back as the Galaxy S21 series, Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.
In related developments, Samsung plans to roll out One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S24 series with a new “video AI” feature (via @UniverseIce on X/Twitter), although the specifics of this new feature are still unclear.
