One UI 6.1 test builds for Canadian Galaxy S21 spotted

Samsung’s One UI 6.1 Update recently arrived for the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. Among the list of eligible devices for the One UI 6.1 update, the Galaxy S21 series is also counted. Hence, the device was recently spotted in test builds for the Canada region.

The recent tip was shared by tipster @theonecid through his tweet. According to his tweet, the Candian variant of the S21 series was spotted on a test server for One UI 6.1 with the build GXD1. This is the first time S21 has been spotted in early April with the update. The new build shared by the tipster was G998WVLUAGXD1/ G998WOYVAGXD1/ G998WVLUAGXD1.

One UI 6.1 was the trend due to Galaxy AI’s inclusion. The Galaxy S24 lineup was the first to have the skin with AI features. With the Galaxy AI under the skin, Samsung has opened a new window for upcoming devices. But it’s unlikely the AI features will transfer to the later devices. It’s all due to the hardware limitations of the device.

Among the Galaxy AI functions, the most liked features are Circle to Search, Notes Assist, Browsing Assist, image editing feature, and Live call Translation. Despite getting One UI 6.1, Galaxy S21 users might not enjoy the full-fledged features of S24. Meanwhile, its predecessor, Galaxy S22, was uncertain about getting AI Power. If Hybrid AI succeeds in integrating with S22, the device will probably have these features. Notably, the S22 and the foldable 5th generation were also spotted in January. Yet, the device is taking longer than expected to release the update.

Recent test builds suggest the One UI 6.1 update is on the way. While an exact release date isn’t confirmed, it’s expected to arrive sometime in the first half of 2024 (possibly around May?).
