In July, Samsung’s unpacked event to roll out its Foldable 6th Generation devices, but with a price hike. As per a recent report from SmartPrix, it seems each of the variants of Z Fold 6 will get a hike of $100 more than the Fold 5 series in the US Market. This variation, of course, is to hit other markets too.
Information from the source shows only the 12 GB variant listed in the price storage option. The price for Z Fold 6 is as shown below-
- 12GB/ 256GB – $1900
- 12GB/ 512 GB – $2020
- 12GB/ 1TB – $2260
The Z Fold 5 price for the same storage is $100 less. Notably, Samsung will introduce pre-orders and discount offers at the initial launch.
It is unclear whether Samsung is bringing the 16 GB RAM variant. Most recently, it was rumored that the Ultra variant of the foldable would be introduced. Therefore, a separate 16 GB RAM variant with ULTRA Tag might exist. And definitely, the price will be high enough for the Ultra variant.
From the leaks so far, Z Fold 6 claims to be the slimmest and impressively the lightest foldable of Samsung. With the possible titanium frame, the phone is going to weigh 14g less than the Z Fold 5. It is also rumored that it will get the thinnest of all time, 11 mm, while in the foldable position.
It is not clear why the price has been hiked! The recent report suggests a Z Fold 6 unbox with similar hardware specifications. There will be no change in camera specs or battery backup at all. This means you still have to charge a 4400 mAh battery, with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Moreover, a similar tri-rear camera, cover, and under-display camera setup exist.
From the design point of view, Fold 6 will get sharp-cornered and slight bumps on the aspect ratio of the cover display compared to Z Fold 5.
With everything so linear, the price hike makes sense just for the inclusion of Galaxy AI. But would it be worth it? Users have recognized Samsung for its recent Galaxy AI features in the flagship S24 series. Similar but more attractive features are to be unleashed within the foldable this summer. Therefore, if the rumors are true, Z Fold 6 will unfold with a big change in AI features rather than hardware.
