Galaxy S23 Series, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 to Get One UI 6.1 in March 2024

Galaxy AI is currently exclusive to the S24 series. However, that will change very soon since the S23 series, the Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and the Tab S9 series will also get most of the Galaxy AI features. It’s already confirmed that they’ll get the photo editing and Summarize features.

Restricting Galaxy AI to the S24 lineup is not a very good business move since Samsung wants to charge users for it in the future. It’s currently free to use and will remain that way till 2025. Samsung will spread Galaxy AI further with the upcoming One UI 6.1 version on the S23 series, and the S24 already ships with this version out of the box.

Samsung has officially confirmed they’re bringing Galaxy AI features to older models. We expect the rollout to begin in March. Several Beta test builds are on Samsung’s servers, and One UI 6.1 is currently in the testing phase. After the bugs are ironed out, they will push the stable update.

Porting over Galaxy AI to older models is a welcome move. Users won’t have to upgrade to newer models for Galaxy AI after just one year. However, there’s still confusion on why the S22 series isn’t getting Galaxy AI. The S23 FE has the 8 Gen 1 chip in some regions and the Exynos 2200 in others. The Galaxy S22 and Tab S8 series ship with the same chipsets. It doesn’t make sense why only the S23 FE is getting Galaxy AI. We hope they port it over eventually to those models, too.

The official announcement from the CEO, TM Roh, says:

“Our goal with Galaxy AI is not only to pioneer a new era of mobile AI but also to empower users by making AI more accessible. This is only the beginning of Galaxy AI, as we plan to bring the experience to over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024 and continue to innovate ways to harness the unlimited possibilities of mobile AI.”

Several noteworthy Galaxy AI features include live text and call translation, chat assistance, and more. The update will soon bring features like AI Photo & Video editing, a circle to search, and more to the S23 series.
