Galaxy Z Fold 6 full specifications leaked ahead of launch

Samsung is planning to launch its latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, at next month’s Galaxy Unpacked event, alongside the Z Flip 6, Watch 7 series, Buds 3 Pro, and the Galaxy Ring.

Now, a new report has leaked all the Galaxy Z Fold 6 specifications, and brace yourselves for disappointment since it seems that not much has changed from the Z Fold 5.

According to the report by tech publication SmartPrix, the full specs of the Z Fold 6 are as detailed below.

  • Largely similar Display: The Z Fold 6 will get a 7.6-inch inner display with a resolution of 2160×1856 (QXGA+). However, the outer display is expected to slightly increase display size (6.3 inches) and a sharper HD+ resolution (986 x 2376 pixels). Both displays support the S Pen and have a 1-120 Hz Adaptive Refresh Rate via LTPO technology.
  • (Slightly) Wider dimensions: The Z Fold 6 is expected to have slightly different dimensions than the Z Fold 5: 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1 mm (when folded) and 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6 mm (when unfolded). As we previously reported, this wider aspect ratio is expected to make the Fold 6 slightly wider than the predecessor. It will also be slimmer and lighter than the Z Fold 5, at 239 grams, versus the 253 grams of the predecessor.
  • Performance increment: The Z Fold 6 will have 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM on all of its storage variants, with options of 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The chipset will be upgraded to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, potentially enabling faster Galaxy AI features on the new foldable and faster raw performance.
  • Software: It is expected to boot One UI 6.1 based on Android 14, with the update commitment expected to be bumped up to 7 years of OS updates, same as the Galaxy S24 series.
  • Same battery: The Z Fold 6 will carry the same 4400 mAh battery as the Z Fold 5, with support for 25W wired charging, 15W Qi wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
  • Same old Camera setup: It will have the same camera setup as the Z Fold 5 with no changes, including the following sensors as detailed below. It will also support up to 8K video recording at 30 fps, 4K slow-motion videos at 120 fps, and 1080P slow-motion videos at 240 fps.
    • Main rear Camera: 50MP, f/1.8, OIS, 1/1.56″ sensor size (Samsung ISOCELL GN3 sensor)
    • Ultra-Wide Camera: 12MP, f/2.2, 120-degree field of view, 1/3.06″ sensor size (Sony IMX258 sensor)
    • Telephoto Camera: 10MP, f/2.4, OIS, 1/3.94″ sensor size, 3x optical zoom, up to 30x digital zoom (Samsung S5K3K1 sensor)
    • Under-Display Camera: 4MP, f/1.8, 1/3″ sensor size (cropped from a 16 MP Sony IMX471 sensor)
    • Cover display Camera: 10MP, f/2.2, 1/3″ sensor size, 25 mm lens (Sony IMX374 sensor)
  • Strong Connectivity: The Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes with two physical SIM slots, with the company allowing us to use 1 physical SIM + 1 eSIM or replace both physical SIMs for 2 eSIMs. It will support 18 5G bands, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C connectivity. Additionally, the Type-C port has USB 3.2 connectivity, allowing for faster wired transfer speeds.
  • Miscellaneous: There is also support for Samsung DeX, which is secured by Samsung Knox, and the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security purposes.
  • Color options: The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have three standard color options: Navy, Silver Shadow, and Pink, with more colors expected to be exclusive to Samsung’s online store.

Seeing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 specifications sheet, we can’t help but be slightly disappointed. On the one hand, we have foldables like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro that are breaking the barriers of foldable hardware, and here is the same old Samsung playing safe with the same old specs for the millionth time. A lot of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 hardware dates as far back as the Z Fold 2, from 2020!

Hopefully, the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim (or Ultra), which is expected to come out later, will bring a refresh of the Samsung foldable hardware. Some of us are, frankly speaking, tired of seeing Samsung spam the same hardware over and over again.

And even after spamming almost the same hardware as last year, this shameless company has the audacity to hike the prices. As per a previous leak we reported on, there will be a $100 increase from the Z Fold 5.

We need more competition to wake Samsung up and bring the hardware upgrades we all wish the company had brought instead of this stupid iteration. I hope it happens soon.
