Galaxy Watch 7 Set to Introduce AI Features: Report

Samsung’s big thing for 2024 is Galaxy AI, which debuted on the newest flagship lineup, the Galaxy S24 series, bringing a wide range of convenient and fun features to improve user experience with Samsung phones.

The company is now focusing on expanding the reach of Galaxy AI, debuting them on the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5 via the One UI 6.1 update in March 2024, and the Galaxy S22 series will soon follow suit.

However, Samsung is also seemingly planning to introduce Galaxy AI features to the company’s wearable lineup to complement its smartphones’ already existing AI features.

According to a source (via @kro_roe on X/Twitter), Samsung plans to debut the wearable version of Galaxy AI with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series, but with no other specifics detailed.

wearable version of Galaxy AI

To many of us, this merely confirms Samsung’s intentions to bring AI features to their wearables, which was hinted at a while ago.

These rumors date back to a press release by Dr. TM Roh, President & Head of MX Business, Samsung Electronics, detailed in February 2024, alongside the introduction of Galaxy AI in the S24 series.

In the press release, he quoted as follows:

Moreover, we are already planning next steps for Galaxy AI beyond smartphones — optimizing it for various categories of devices across various services. In the near future, select Galaxy wearables will use AI to enhance digital health and unlock a whole new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences. Samsung will keep enriching and expanding Galaxy AI experiences across categories through collaborations with more industry-leading AI partners.

This new leak by tipster Kro just confirms what Dr Roh said back then. Furthermore, while we do not have any specifics for the wearable AI features, they are hinted to focus on health tracking and maintaining digital health.

A few days ago, we reported exclusively that the Galaxy Watch 7 lineup will feature the Exynos W1000 chipset. The Galaxy Watch 7 series is expected to carry three models: Watch 7, Watch 7 Classic, and Watch Ultra. Samsung could skip the Watch 7 Pro in favor of a new “Watch Ultra.”

Expect the new Galaxy AI features for the Watch 7 series to be officially detailed alongside the new foldables and the Galaxy Ring in the upcoming Unpacked event rumored to happen on July 10, 2024.
