One UI 6.1 rollout begins for the Galaxy S22, S21 series (and many more devices!)

Samsung debuted Galaxy AI on One UI 6.1, which shipped with the Galaxy S24 series in February 2024.

Later, the AI features trickled down to the Galaxy S23 series, the Z Fold 5, and the Z Flip 5, with all these devices receiving the One UI 6.1 update towards the end of March 2024.

Now, we have good news for owners of older flagship devices. Samsung has officially rolled out the One UI 6.1 update for the 2021 and 2022 flagship devices.

The devices now receiving the One UI 6.1 rollout are as follows:

  • Entire Galaxy S22 series (S22, S22+, S22 Ultra)
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Entire Galaxy S21 series (S21. S21+, S21 Ultra)
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Hence, the update has finally rolled out to all eligible flagship devices that were supposed to receive it.

Despite this excellent news for users of these older flagship devices, there are a few asterisks:

  • The update rollout is entirely restricted to South Korea for now. Hence, it might take a short while for the OTA to arrive on units in other regions such as the USA, Germany, the UK, and India.
  • Users of the Galaxy S21 series and Z Flip 3 are in for a huge disappointment, as they are getting almost none of the Galaxy AI features (except for the widely advertised Circle to Search feature).
  • Strangely enough, the Z Fold 3 is getting a lot more AI features than the other 2021 phones, including AI-generated wallpapers, webpage summarization, notes summarization, auto templates in Samsung Notes, live language translation, image editing suggestions, generative AI-powered editing, Interpreter Mode, and voice transcription in Voice Recorder.
  • The Galaxy S21 FE 5G (Exynos and Snapdragon variants) is not a part of this update rollout and is expected to receive One UI 6.1 later.

As for the Galaxy S22 series, Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 users are getting almost the entire suite of Galaxy AI features, essentially the same feature set as the Galaxy S23 FE (which does not include the on-device Instant Slow-mo feature in the Gallery app).

If you use any of the above devices, stay tuned for the One UI 6.1 update dropping in the coming days to enjoy Galaxy AI to the fullest (the fullest of what Samsung gives).
