When will Galaxy S22 (Ultra) get One UI 6 (Android 14) Update?

Update November 20: Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 6 update to Galaxy S22 devices in Europe. The update is rolling out first to Galaxy S22 Ultra users and will expand to the Galaxy S22 and S22+ over time. The update is approximately 3.1GB in size and includes the November 2023 security patches. Galaxy S22 users can go to Settings > Software Update to check for the update.

Update November 2: Samsung has released the third One UI 6 beta update for the Galaxy S22 series. This new beta, labeled version S90xEXXU7ZWJO, is now rolling out to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The update is around 1GB and includes the November 2023 security patch. This is the third One UI 6 beta based on Android 14 for last year’s flagship phones.

Update October 26: Samsung is getting ready to release the third beta update for One UI 6 on the Galaxy S22 series. The update is expected to be released this week for beta testers. A new test build (Version: S908BXXU6ZWJM/ S908BOXM6ZWJM/ S908BXXU6ZWJM) has now been spotted on Samsung’s test servers in Europe and Korea, which further indicates that the release is imminent. The beta 3 update is expected to fix many of the bugs that were discovered in the second beta build.

Update August 11: Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 6 beta update based on Android 14 for the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra. Users in the United States, Germany, and South Korea can now enroll in the beta program through the Samsung Members app.

About the Galaxy S22 Series

Before we discuss the One UI 6 update for the S22 lineup, let’s quickly go through the specifications of the Galaxy S22 series.

Display: The standard S22 has a 6.1 inch(15.39 cm) screen, resolution FHD+(2340×1080), and Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the S22 + has a 6.65-inch display and the remaining features are the same. But Galaxy S22 Ultra has a larger 6.8 inch with Quad HD+(3088×1440) resolution.

Processor: The devices are equipped with powerful processors, either Exynos 220 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 898, depending upon the region. Talking about the processor performance, it has a CPU speed of 2.99GHz, 2.5 GHz, and 1.7 GHz. The CPU is architectured with Octacore to handle multiple tasks.

Memory: Galaxy S22 & S22+ variants receive 8GB RAM with a 128 GB or 256 GB storage capacity. Whereas Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with various variants of RAM and Storage. For example-

  • 12 GB RAM with 256 GB Storage
  • 12 GB RAM with 512 GB Storage
  • 12 GB RAM with 1TB Storage

Camera: Samsung put every effort to well equipped the device with all possible pro camera options. Galaxy S22 & S22+ variant has a triple rear camera setup, whereas the Galaxy S22 Ultra variant receives a Quad camera setup. The triple rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary lens, a 12MP Ultra Wide lens, a 12 MP telephoto lens, and a 10MP front-facing camera for selfies.

The Quad camera setup includes a 108MP primary lens, a 10 MP periscope telephoto lens, a 10 MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, it has a 40 MP Selfie Camera.

Battery: For each advanced version of Galaxy S22, Samsung adds more power backup to its devices. Also, the batteries were fast charged with 25 W (S22)and 45W (S22+/S22 Ultra) chargers.

Galaxy S22 Software Update History

Samsung is known for providing timely software updates to its devices. These updates help to protect the device from vulnerabilities and threats.

Notably, the Galaxy S22 Series is new in the Industry, and it was launched with Android 12 base One UI 4.1. Galaxy S22, S22+ & S22 Ultra are running on the current version of the Software One UI 5. In October 2022, it received the latest Android 13 base with One UI 5 version. Galaxy S22 series now receives preinstalled One UI 5,1 Skin.

Apart from the Software update, the phone receives timely Security updates. Recently, on March 2023, it received Security Patches in some countries. Note that the updates were released on different timelines for different regions.

Samsung will likely release its One UI 6 around November 2023. Priority will be given to the high-end devices, including the S23 and S22 series, before other devices.

One UI 6: What can we expect?

The next major update of One UI 6 will include many features and improvements that are part of Android 14. The Series Galaxy S22 has already impacted the smartphone market with its impressive features and lithography; it will further enhance its functionality to glaze with the next updated skin.

Samsung always tries to enhance the user-friendly experience with each software update. And the upcoming One UI 6 will not be different from that. One UI 6 is expected to bring several exciting features, including Enhanced Customization options, Material You Design Language, Improve Security Features, Performance Optimization, and more.

It will be too early to expect more from One UI 6, which is still in development. Soon, its beta version will be available, and a stable version can be expected to launch after several trials.
