Samsung is currently rolling out One UI 6.1 for their wide-range Android-based devices, having first debuted it with the Galaxy S24 series. Since then, it has rolled out to the company’s flagships and foldables, as far back as the Galaxy S21 series, Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3 from 2021.ย
Now, it seems that the rollout has expanded to the company’s midrange lineup, including the recent rollout of One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34. Now, the rollout seems to consist of the company’s midrange tablets.
In this context, it seems that Samsung has started the One UI 6.1 update rollout for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series, which includes the Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+ released by the brand late in 2023.
The update is now live for the Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+ users in South Korea, with the software build versions X610XXU3BXE1 / X6100XM3BXE1 for the Tab S9 FE+. Hence, users are advised to install the update to enjoy the latest improvements and security fixes for the Tab S9 FE series.
However, there is a major catch. Unlike the Tab S9 and Tab S8 series, the Tab S9 FE series does not seem to get any Galaxy AI features. We believe that this is a sales and marketing strategy adopted by the company to restrict AI features to its flagship devices, even though most of the features don’t even run on-device.
To install the One UI 6.1 update on your Samsung device, open the device’s settings menu, scroll down to the software updates page, and scan for the update. If the update is available, you can tap download and install the update package via a reboot.
If the update is unavailable for your Tab S9 FE or S9 FE+ yet, wait for it to go live in your region: it should not take too long for the One UI 6.1 update to start hitting global regions outside South Korea.
