Samsung’s XR Headset price could be cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro

Samsung officially showcases its roadmap for the upcoming products at the Unpacked Event. Along with the Galaxy S25 lineup, the company showcases the upcoming future models like the Galaxy S25 Edge and its only XR headset.

The Korean giant boldly showcases their product prototypes ahead of their launch. Samsung’s XR headset will probably be the company’s first ever device competing with the Apple Vision Pro in the field of virtual reality.

Samsungโ€™s XR Headset Price Tipped

Ahead of its launch, one of the tipsters tipped the price of the XR headset. Samsung is already lagging behind in the XR genre to its rival. And the only way to gain the market is to sell it at a lower price compared to Vision Pro. Which is exactly tipped by the tipster in his tweet: the price range is expected between $2000 and $3000; of course its an expensive one, but less than Vision Pro’s $3500. But this price range could vary based on the premium features built into it.

Samsung’s XR Headset: The Project Moohan

Previously, the project kicked off with the codename “Project Moohan.”. It is a collaboration between Samsung and Google. The product prototype speaks a lot about the integration of Samsung hardware and Google’s Android XR platform.

A recent video released by Marques Browne (MKBHD) exclusively covers the early impression of the Samsung unreleased XR headset. The video exclusively gives a demo of what the Samsung’s XR Headset could possibly do.

From a design point of view, the prototype looks pretty much like Vision Pro. It has a similar design language and a similar external battery concept but a detachable USB-C type one. The key difference with the Apple version is the reflective glass not revealing the eyes.

Moreover, the adjustable headset redistributes the overall weight around the eye area, providing comfort while wearing it. The hardware controls, like volume control and power button, are setup above the headset. A touch pad is placed on the right side of the holding strap.

The video revealed that the XR headset is going to have all the Android features, including Play Store apps and Gemini AI, which is definitely making it superior to its rival. The integration of Gemini AI into the XR headset expands the boundaries of virtual reality.

The video showcases some of the AI features already, like the circle to search; you can just virtually draw the circle, and it shows the results. Another feature includes the Gemini to organize windows and running through apps to search content. That saves a lot of hand gestures to do a task; instead, just ask Gemini to do it. Cool, isn’t it? But yes, there will be limitations to certain apps.

As for the launch time frame, MKBHD does hint it is likely to be released this year. With all the above features, it is again a toughest challenge for the company to sell the XR headset at a price tag less than its rival.
