Ultra Wide Band is the future for earbud companies for better audio transmission. Samsung also hints at jumping into the race and is considering developing the idea to implement it on its Galaxy Buds. The recent report (via 91Mobiles) suggests a filled patent application in the US that was published in January. The application is filled for using UWB for wireless earphones.
Although the UWB is a new concept for earphones, many renowned companies have been implementing it in their mobile devices. Considering this piece of tech for its earbuds is an advanced step, Samsung has shown its plan with the patent application. And this could be a real use for Samsung’s XR headset, which they have revealed recently.
Samsung might bring UWB connectivity to revolutionize its Galaxy Buds
From the patent, it is understood in pen and paper how the K giant will be using UWB on their Galaxy Buds. In simple language, there will be three basic steps:
- First, using Bluetooth, the connection will be established between the source (phone, headset, etc.) and the master earphone.
- The UWB connection is set up next between the phone and earphones. The source audio via UWB can be mirrored between the master earphone and the second earphone.
- Disconnect the Bluetooth connection, as it will no longer be needed after UWB takes over the data transmission.
Pretty cool, isn’t it? But every tech has its pros and cons. The benefits are crystal clear; we get faster and more precise data transmission, resulting in high-quality sound effects. Adversely, it could cost more, and energy consumption might be another issue. Although it’s too early to speak about this tech, we will see in the upcoming days whether its pros outweigh the cons.
Samsungย Galaxy Buds has been improving every possible way to compete in the earbuds market. The latest model of the company came as the Galaxy Buds 3 & Budr 3 Pro, which has a significant change in their design language to resolve the comfort issue. Regardless of its efforts, the company is lagging in dominating the market because of its price and features compared to its rivals, which is why the UWB will be a game changer for the market.
If everything goes well and the concept becomes a reality, we could see the UWB featured in the next Galaxy Buds series. Any new developments regarding this tech piece will be covered; stay tuned!
