Samsung is preparing to release its next foldable phones, and it looks like they’ll use larger displays than before. According to Ross Young, a display industry insider, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will see noticeably bigger screens next year.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 6.3-inch cover screen. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to boast an 8-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen. Not a surprise really since the Galaxy Z Fold SE has the same screen specs, so maybe the new one will be similar in design.
Fold 7 should have same display sizes as Fold 6 SE. So, Fold 6 SE will basically become the Fold 7.

And, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung’s clamshell foldable, will also get a bigger screen. The 6.7-inch inner screen on the Flip 6 might get increased to 6.85 inches, while the 3.4-inch outer screen might increase to up to 4 inches. So both of Samsung’s foldables will have more screen real estate for users in 2025.
So with these larger displays, both foldable phones will offer more screen space for users in 2025.
In related news, the foldable phone market has seen a slower year than anticipated. In the third quarter of 2024, Samsung received fewer sales of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, especially in the US and China, although it was still in demand in Europe and Korea. However, this is not unusual to Samsung alone; Huawei reduced orders for foldable screens, partly because their phones came somewhat late this year.
According to the DisplaySupplyChain report, the foldable market will experience a small hit in 2025. But things will be back to business in 2026 when Apple is said to launch its foldable iPhone, which will drive huge growth for the entire foldable phone market and make 2026 the record year for foldable.
The larger screens on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 may be only just the beginning, as their tri-fold or rollable devices are reportedly in the works.
