The new Samsung Galaxy S25 series introduces a dynamic feature called Now Bar. Its an interesting feature supported in the One UI 7 skin to provide quick information and access to the active apps. Users enjoy it a lot, as it’s a very helpful feature. However, a few users discovered the Now Bar is missing from their lock screen.
This disappearance of the feature creates confusion for some users. Because of this, users have tried workarounds and even tried factory resetting. Unlike other AOD features, which constantly keep showing while you tap, the Now Bar disappears now and then.
Is it a glitch or issue with the Now Bar feature?
Well, actually, it’s not! For that, let’s understand the Now Bar feature first. This is a dynamic feature that shows information, such as live notifications, music, routine, timer or stopwatch, etc., and personalizes information from the “Now Brief,” which is another AI feature. The Now Bar not only displays the content, but you can also control it from the lock screen itself.
However, a point to be noted, the Now Bar appears on the lock screen when there is active content available to display. This means if there is nothing happening in the background, the Now Bar will remain hidden or disappear. However, many users report this as an issue, thinking it was a malfunction. Adversely, it is intentional and designed to be context-aware; it appears only when needed to show something.
This disappearance might be useful, though, as displaying continuous information can drain the battery. Also, it keeps the lock screen clean when there is nothing to show.
It is noteworthy that the Now Bar appears on the lock screen when supported apps are opened, which includes Samsung Health, Bixby, Clock, Samsung Notes, Emergency Sharing, Voice Recorder, Google Maps, Interpreter, and Google (Sports Score). You can check the list of available apps by heading over to Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Now Bar.
As of now, the “Now Bar” feature only supports the Galaxy S25 series with One UI 7. Other flagship devices will also be able to enjoy this dynamic feature after the One UI 7 update. It’s uncertain whether the feature will be enjoyed by midrange Galaxy users.
