Samsung November 2024 update causes Android Auto issues, but there’s an easy fix

Some Galaxy phone users reported Android Auto stopped working. The bug was caused by the November 2024 security update, but don’t worry; there is a very simple way to fix it.

The recent update focused on security and safety rather than changes. It tweaks some of the features that might cause the Android Auto app to fail.

Samsung’s Auto Blocker feature, which is supposed to be a feature for the safer operation of the devices, has also been updated. Now, it blocks USB connections for all functions except charging. If you connect the phone to the car via USB, Android Auto will not work unless you change the settings.

But here’s the good news! In the first place, Auto Blocker is not even enabled by default. This new restriction is only an issue if you have enabled Auto Blocker before and then put it to Maximum restrictions.

This is the only situation where you will face a problem with Android Auto. If your Android Auto suddenly stops working, you can fix it easily.

Go to the settings of your phone. Then go to “Security and privacy.” When you are in there, look for “Auto Blocker” and switch off the “Maximum restrictions.”

Now, Android Auto must be working as usual. You can still continue to use Auto Blocker for security and disable that maximum setting.

Samsung says this new auto blocker feature will be a priority with the One UI 7 update for Galaxy devices.

As of now, the November security 2024 update has started rolling out on a few devices, namely the Galaxy S24, S23, and some Galaxy tablets. It will be rolled out soon for other devices as well.
