Samsung’s Tab S9 series packs some premium hardware features like the latest 8 Gen 2 SOC and AMOLED screens. While these are some of the best tablets you can get, Samsung also makes mid-range tablets that can reach more people. They don’t offer much in terms of performance.
However, they appeal to people who want the One UI experience on a tablet but don’t want to pay flagship prices. Samsung’s S Pen stylus is also a major selling point. People also buy it for the ecosystem.
The last midrange tablet entry into Samsung’s line was the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. It has a 1600P 12.4″ TFT LCD 60Hz panel and ships with either the 750G SOC (5G model) or the 778G (Wi-Fi model). A key selling feature for this tablet is DeX Mode, which is good enough to replace a laptop for many people.
However, this tablet is over two years old and has a May 2021 launch date. There are many rumors that Samsung will soon announce the successors to the Tab S7 FE. This time, we could see a Tab S9 FE and a Tab S9 FE+. A particular launch date is unclear at the moment. We can assume Samsung will announce these tablets at the October 2023 Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the One UI 6 software skin. The tablet was also spotted on FCC certification.
The S9 FE Plus could have the Exynos 1380 chip- the same as the A54. This is barely an upgrade from the 778G and is very underwhelming for the leaked European price.
Ahead of its launch, we obtained pricing details from a retailer database. Our previous report on the Galaxy A14 and S21 FE pricing was accurate, and it was picked up by many major publications, such as GSMArena.
According to the retail listing, the Tab S9 FE+ (Wifi) could be priced at 749.99 EUR for the base 128GB model with 8GB RAM. The vanilla tab S9 FE (Wifi) will apparently start at 549.99 EUR for the 6GB RAM variant with 128GB storage.
In comparison to the regular models, the Tab S9 starts at 899 EUR. That’s for the base 8GB/ 128GB Wi-Fi-only model.
Note: The exact prices might vary (because of VAT and duties) between different EU member states.
We are not sure about the display specifications; Ross Young isn’t sure whether it’s AMOLED or LCD. The 12.4″ S9 FE Plus and the 11″ S9 FE could both have 5G options. The colors for the Tab S9 FE and FE+ are apparently Gray, Light Green, Light Pink, and Silver.
