Samsung is preparing to release its new Galaxy A16 in both 4G and 5G models, and there’s a lot to be excited about. In a previous report, we discussed about leaks related to its price and design. Now, we have come across a European retailer listing that reveals its complete specs.
First, the screen is getting bigger. The Galaxy A16 will have a 6.7-inch display, compared to the 6.5-inch of its predecessor. It will feature a Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The panel will offer a peak brightness of 800 nits.
This will be the first A1X series phone from Samsung that has an IP54 rating. This means it’s protected against splashes and dust.
Samsung also made the phone slimmer, reducing its thickness to 7.9 mm instead of the 8.4 mm of the previous version.
The 4G version will likely use MediaTek’s Helio G99 chipset. The 5G model is confirmed to come with Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset in Europe (In other countries like India and Thailand, the A16 5G is said to feature the Dimensity 6300 SoC).
Both will have 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Were you hoping for more memory configuration? You might not get those in Europe.
Both versions of the A16 include three rear cameras. The main camera is a 50 MP (f/1.8) wide-angle lens. There’s also a 5 MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera and a 2 MP (f/2.4) macro lens. You’ll get a 13 MP (f/2.0) selfie camera on the front.
A 5,000 mAh battery will power the phone. The charging speed is still capped at 25 W.
One of the best things about the Galaxy A16 series is Samsung’s promise of six years of software updates, including operating system upgrades and security patches.
