Report: Samsung Delays One UI 7.0 Beta Program

Samsung is preparing to launch the newest version of its software skin, One UI 7.0, based on Android 15 very soon, with a wide range of new improvements and features.

Users of the Galaxy S24 series are eagerly waiting for the first beta release of the new software version so that they can be among the first to test out the new changes and features. Samsung usually releases beta versions sometime in mid-August.

This year, multiple sources have rumored that the One UI 7.0 beta will arrive in the third week of August, but unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case.

According to the renowned tipster Ice Universe, it has been claimed that Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta release has been released. It has been claimed that there are “still no plans to launch it in the near future,” indicating that the company could still be working on refining its upcoming software.

This delay makes perfect sense when we look at the leaked changes for One UI 7.0, which was leaked by Ice Universe himself in a now-deleted post (via Android Authority):

  • New updates icon design for first-party apps
  • New background interface
  • A new control area at the bottom of the lock screen for easy shortcuts
  • Adjustment of shortcut icons in the left and right corners of the lock screen
  • New logic for quick settings and notification panels: We can either have independently separate panels (like iOS, HyperOS, or MagicOS) or keep them merged like the older One UI versions and Pixel UI.
  • A new Dynamic Island-inspired notification pill to better control more apps.
  • Major improvements to app opening and closing animations include adding non-linear interruptible animations.
  • New designs for the battery icon and charging animations
  • A new camera interface with toggles moved to the bottom of the app
  • Added 5G SMS messages feature
  • New notification pop-ups and closing animations are expected.
  • New unlock animations are also incoming.
  • New animations have been added for button touch and returning from the app/menu.
  • New additions to the home screen and lockscreen widgets
  • Adding support for large folders

As it can be seen, One UI 7.0 is a major departure from older versions, with the unique Samsung touch being possibly neglected in favor of inspirations from Apple’s iOS operating system. Hence, it makes a lot of sense that this version of the software needs more refinement, which could account for the delay in the beta software release.

As of the time of writing, we have no concrete idea of the new timeframe for the release of the much-awaited One UI 7.0 beta.
