One UI 8 May Launch Early with Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in August

Samsung users have been frustrated with the rollout of One UI 7, but an early One UI 8 rollout is possible. Since One UI 7 was a major update, we can expect One UI 8 to be an incremental update, which focuses more on optimization than new features.

Insider information from SamMobile reveals that Samsung might launch One UI 8 much earlier, around the month of August. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 might be the first devices to get One UI 8. Since Google is going to launch the stable version around June, Samsung’s usual launch schedule may not be possible, and they might launch the Z series in August.

Samsung usually launches its foldable phones in the second half of the year, and they used to come out of the box with an incremental “X.1”ย  update.

Android previews usually arrive around February. It was the same with the Android 15 update. However, the Android 16 developer preview was in November 2024, which is 3 full months earlier than expected. Since Google now has a head start, this lead allows the company to finish Android 16 development around April- May. Google can launch the final version in June- July.

This allows Samsung to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 out of the box with One UI 8. Expect the S25 series to get the beta first, and then earlier models to follow. While some leaks claim that Samsung may not release a Beta version for One UI 8, it doesn’t make sense to skip the beta phase of testing entirely. We expect pre-release testing before the stable release to happen, to ensure a smooth and optimized experience.

If One UI 8 launches in August, expect all the supported models to get the update before the end of the year.
