One UI 7 rendered alongside the Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung’s annual Developer Conference was held recently for the year 2024, and it led to a very shocking announcement for users eager to receive the company’s latest software features.

The company announced that One UI 7ย will only be released alongside the Galaxy S25 series early next year in 2025, with the beta program for the Galaxy S24 series expected to start by the end of this year.

While this is a disappointing chain of events, it could be because One UI 7 is said to be a major overhaul of Samsung’s software. New information from a reliable source confirms these tumors.

The reputed tipster, Ice Universe (via @UniverseIce on X), recently posted a picture, which essentially ended up hitting two birds with one stone. It is claimed to be the One UI 7 control panel rendered on top of the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The image shown corroborates earlier rumors that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will finally adopt rounded corners instead of the pointed sharp corners of the current generation, which will drastically improve the comfort factor of the upcoming Ultra phone.

The bigger news, however, is the reveal of the new control panel design for One UI 7, which is an interesting yet polarising design.

It is clear that this new design is taking a lot of inspiration from Apple’s iOS but is giving a unique Samsung take on top: the Toggles have no text, with incredible background wallpaper blurring.

But at the same time, they have halved the length of the brightness and volume sliders, which, alongside their positioning, is a change some users may not appreciate. At the same time, the media playback design seems to be carried over from One UI 7.

Samsung is also expected to adopt the iOS-style bifurcation for the quick settings and the notification panel in One UI 7, meaning that a swipe down on the left side of the screen will bring your notifications, and a swipe down on the right side will bring your quick settings.

These changes, yet again, are poised to end up dividing Samsung fans: Some users may not like the iOS inspirations in the distinct One UI design language, while other users might end up embracing it.

One UI 7 beta will start later this year, with a full rollout not expected until the Galaxy S25 series launch in early 2025.
