One UI 6 Beta 7 Rolls Out with Bug Fixes and Animation Improvements

One UI 6 brings better multitasking, a new design for Quick Toggles, which is now easier to access since you can swipe down from the top right, Focus Modes paired with particular home and lock screen combos, new widgets, and more.

Six Betas into the One UI 6 based on Android 14, the software is finally approaching platform stability. Except for some touch response issues, One UI 6 Beta 6 didn’t have many bugs. With this update, Samsung improved its key weaknesses: UI responsiveness and animation stability. The animations are much better. The transitions are smoother, and the way that icons behave when you close and open apps- these are much better.

One UI 6 Beta 7 is out in multiple regions with the version number ending with ZWJC. This is likely the last Beta before the stable rollout of Android 14. We might see another Beta if there are major bugs with this one. Samsung could launch stable Android 14 to their flagships in a week.

One UI 6 Beta 7 fixes one key problem with touch response. There’s a delay when you open an app, close it rapidly, and open another. According to Ice Universe on X, this isn’t how an 8 Gen 2 phone should behave. The S23 Ultra with One UI 6 Beta 6 doesn’t respond to touch quickly enough. Once you close an app and rapidly open another, it fails to register. This is a useful feature if you want to multitask; for example, open the X app, scroll a bit, close it, and immediately open the Gallery app.

This update fixes these touch response issues. You can now rapidly switch to another app without waiting. Buggy app animations are no more. The update also adjusts the corner radius of icons based on the screen. This makes the animation appear smoother.

According to the official changelog, there are other fixes:

  1. Fixes the inability to open the Quick Panel on the Home Screen.
  2. Smoother transitions when you rotate the screen.
  3. Call encryption algorithm improvements.
  4. Better volume key recognition when the proximity sensor is in use.
  5. Improvements to navigation gestures and smoothness.
  6. Fixes issues with cameras crashing.
  7. It fixes a problem where some popular financing apps don’t run with the software.

If you have a compatible device and this Beta is out in your region, you can download it from the Settings app. Just go to the Software Updates section, then hit Download and Install.
