October 2024 Security Update Out for the Galaxy S22 Series in the US

Samsung has begun rolling out the October 2024 security update for eligible Galaxy smartphones. Today, the update has started reaching the Galaxy S22 series in the US.

We mention the region because the international variants of the same devices got the update a few days ago.

You can look for the update in the Software update section in the Settings app. It should be there with the firmware version S90xU1UES6EXJ1. And if it is there, you can hit the Download and Install button to start.

What’s in the Update?

While the update does not bring any new features or visual changes, it does include the October 2024 security patch.

According to Samsung, it fixes over 42 security vulnerabilities that were present in the last update.

You can read more about the October 2024 security patch from the Android Security Bulletin for this month.

If you are still eager for new features, you will have to wait for the One UI 7 update, which will be based on Android 15.

Hopefully, the wait will not be too long. The word is that this update is going to be much more significant than its predecessors.

Coming back to the Galaxy S22 series, it was released with Android 12 with One UI 4 out of the box and currently runs Android 14 with One UI 6. It still falls under the list of devices that Samsung updates on a monthly basis. And it is likely going to stay that way for a while.
