Samsung hints that some new AI features might not roll out to the older S series devices, including the Galaxy S24 lineup. So far, we have been hearing that some AI features might miss out on mid-range Galaxy devices, but surprisingly, last year’s flagship Galaxy S24 may also miss out.
The Galaxy S25 series came with the One UI 7 on top of Android 15. The phone has amazing hardware and software combinations suitable for executing sophisticated AI features.
Now Brief is one of the new AI features that is bundled with the latest One UI 7 build. But backporting Now Brief to S25’s predecessor would not be possible.
During anย interview, Sally Hyesoon Jeong, EVP & Head of the Framework R&D Team at SME, hints at the features that will not work for older devices. While answering a question in the interview, Sally clarified the hardware difference between the older generation devices and the current Galaxy S25 with Snapdragon 8 Elite. Unlike its previous variant, the S25 has powerful and advanced hardware and chipset.
In the interview, it was asked whether the exclusive AI features would be on the previous models or not. Sally replies that AI features that mostly rely on on-device processing, such as the personal data engine, require Galaxy S25-like hardware.
Especially features like Now Brief are some of those that rely on on-device computing as it provides real-time responses. To run the complex algorithm and share real-time output based on personal data, S25 uses 8 Elite’s processing power.
Due to hardware limitations, the Galaxy S24 will not be able to process the Now Brief as seamlessly as the S25.ย Hopefully, theย One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 will bring some of the cloud base features into it.
