Gen AI Wallpapers Coming to Your Samsung Smart TV

We are indisputably in the era of artificial intelligence. We see it everywhere, from our phones to our wearables to our bedrooms. One of the common and popular types of AI is generative AI, or Gen AI for short.

What it does is really simple โ€” generate content, from text to videos and images. Every major company, especially in the smartphone industry, has been trying their hands on Gen AI for months now.

In the Android side of the smartphone world, there is this thing called Generative AI Wallpapers. As the name suggests, it generates wallpapers based on your prompts using artificial intelligence.

Up until now, this feature was more common on smartphones. But various companies have started trying it on TVs as well. And now, Samsung is apparently planning to join that list of companies.

Samsung Smart TVs to Get Gen AI Wallpapers

At the Samsung Developer Conference 2024, held earlier this month, Samsung announced its plans to bring Gen AI Wallpapers to its Smart TV lineup. The company is now planning to roll it out to its flagship 2024 QLED and Neo QLED models by the end of this month.

The feature will allow users to create high-quality wallpapers based on their input. This will add a more personal touch to how users customize their TVs, helping them match their home decor, for instance.

How to Use This Feature?

To use Gen AI Wallpapers on your Samsung Smart TV, go to the Ambient Mode menu and click the button there. Then, you will have to choose from different themes that you like.

Once you do that, you will get an array of AI-generated wallpapers from which you can choose. Besides that, your Smart TV will also display information like the time, news, and weather updates in Ambient Mode.

Staged Rollout

For now, the Gen AI Wallpapers feature will stay limited to South Korean, North American, and European markets. Other regions will gradually receive it throughout next year. As stated earlier, the initial rollout will begin by the end of this month. So keep an eye out for the update if you are in the aforementioned regions!
