Samsung recently unveiled two new WearOS smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch 7 and the all-new Galaxy Watch Ultra, with a lot of excitement riding on these two products.
Despite the allegations that the Galaxy Watch Ultra resembles the Apple Watch Ultra too closely, the new smartwatch has been very well-received. It has proven to be a great addition to the Galaxy Watch family.
A key part of the smartwatches is connectivity via the excellent Samsung Health app, which offers great health tracking features and manages your health data really well. However, today’s issue shows better management is needed.
As per a subreddit that is aptly named “F off Samsung,” many users posted about the new Galaxy smartwatches that have been facing issues with the notification handling related to the Samsung Health app.
This issue concerns the notifications given to users in case of inactivity, where the complaint is that the smartwatch prompts the users about activity notifications, which occur very frequently. They are usually seen in cases of inactivity, for example, prolonged sitting or waking up from overnight sleep.
It could be theorized that the inactivity notification logic used by Samsung is too sensitive in its implementation and needs to be toned down a little bit, but as of now, there is no clear fix for this issue.
A few users with older Galaxy watches within the subreddit suggested disabling the “inactive times” toggle within the Samsung Health app to get rid of these annoying notifications. Still, it seems that this does not work on the newer Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, possibly due to a bug in the software.
The only fix for this issue seems to be disabling all notifications from the Samsung Health app, which entirely defeats the purpose of receiving notifications for useful things.
So far, there has been no clarification from Samsung regarding this issue, but we hope a software fix is issued as soon as possible.
