Google’s Wear OS is a popular choice for Smartwatches. Following its popularity, Samsung also moves to the row of Wear OS from Tizen-based Galaxy Watch. The recent reports from 9to5google.com showed the latest developments from Google and Samsung for the next-generation Wear OS launch.
The reports shared by 9to5google.com confirm that Samsung is actively working on its next Galaxy Watch 7 launch. The reports suggest the latest testing for the Exynos 5593 chip was spotted. Samsung will stick to its foundry chip Exynos, and this time, a minor enhancement can be seen to impact overall performance. The test build spotted for the Android 14 base referred to as ” Wear OS 5″ in multiple locations.
Tracking back to its earlier launches, Google could change its release pattern. Wear OS 2 made a debut with Android 9 in 2018. Meanwhile, Wear OS 3 & 4 launched with the Android base versions 11 and 13, respectively. However, a recent report suggests Google might adopt to upgrade Wear OS annually from now on. It could very much be possible to compete with its rival Apple Watch OS, which plans to update annually.
Wear OS 4 is currently based on Android 13, a major improved variant compared to its predecessor. Samsung introduced Wear OS 4 last year with its Galaxy Watch 6 variants. If the report is accurate, Samsung will introduce Wear OS 5 on the Galaxy Watch 7 based on Android 14. Therefore, we can predict the next Wear OS 6 will be based on Android 15.
Although there is not much revelation of Wear OS 5 or Galaxy Watch 7 features in the report, we can expect a major improvement in its performance for different variants. A new Exynos Chip is reportedly introduced with the next Galaxy Watch. Meanwhile, Google is also working on its next Pixel watch launch, with a much bigger bezel than its earlier variant.
