Samsung’s wearable launches are at an all-time high, with the Galaxy Fit 3 announced at the start of the year, alongside three new upcoming products: the Galaxy Watch 7 series and the debut of the first-ever Galaxy Ring.
Hence, the company is expanding rapidly into fitness trackers and smart rings, but that doesn’t mean that they forgot about their primary WearOS-based Galaxy Watch 7 lineup.
In fact, the Galaxy Watch 7 series is expected to build upon 2022’s Watch 5 series by bringing refreshed specs and major improvements in terms of the software, with some AI-based fitness features expected to be incorporated into the new lineup. However, this is not the only upgrade Samsung seems to be planning for the Galaxy Watch 7 series.
According to the FCC listing that has recently surfaced, it seems that the Galaxy Watch 7 (with model number SM-L305U) will support faster charging, as shown by support for charging at 5V and 3A, calculating a total charging output of 15W.
This listing explicitly confirms the charging speeds of only one variant of the Galaxy Watch 7. However, the other known model numbers of the Galaxy Watch 7 series (SM-L300, SM-L310, and SM-L315) are also expected to feature the same 15W wired charging speeds.
As this information comes from FCC documentation, this charging speed bump is imminent since these listings are based on tests of the final product that enters production. This makes the Galaxy Watch 7 series charge as much as 50% faster than the predecessor Galaxy Watch 6 series (which used to charge at a maximum wattage of 10W only).
However, as of the time of writing, there is no proper clarity on whether the wireless charging speeds of the Watch 7 series will also be increased.
