- READ: When will Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and S8 Ultra get One UI 6 (Android 14)?
Update August 7: Samsung has launched a beta version of its One UI 6 software for the new Galaxy S23 lineup of smartphones. One UI 6 is Samsung’s customized Android interface, now built on top of Android 14. The beta is initially available for Galaxy S23 users in South Korea, the United States, and Germany. It gives S23 owners early access to try out and provide feedback on new One UI 6 features before the official public rollout. While the Galaxy S23 series is the first to get the One UI 6 beta, Samsung’s previous flagship tablets – the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ – are not eligible for the beta program.
Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ won’t get Android 14-based One UI 6:
Despite being a flagship Tablet series, will Galaxy Tab S7/ S7+ be able to make an entry to the One UI 6 Update list? All doubts will be clear if we review the previous update history and understand Samsung’s software update policy.
Samsung Electronics is known for its timely software update. And the next major update is likely to hit the market soon. Usually, the company follows a similar timeframe to launch its flagship devices as per the policy. In August 2020, Samsung announced it supports three-generation of ย OS upgrades for selected Tablets and phones. Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ were listed in the category and enjoyed the latest updates.
The company two years later, in Feb 2022, we made another announcement to raise the bar for one another year to some selected devices and later launch. However, Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ were not included in the device list chosen for four generation OS Upgrade.
Based on the previous update history, Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ rolled out with Android 10-based One UI 2.0 during the launch. Since then, it has received the major three Android 11,12 &13 updates. On a current note, it runs on an Android 13-based One UI 5.1 interface. This means Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ used up all their update immunity to enjoy the next major ONE UI 6 update.
One UI 6 will likely bring more enhancements and security patches in its next update. We can say Galaxy Tab S7 series users will not miss much with their flagship specs.
So we hope to clarify that the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ will not receive the upcoming Android 14-based ONE UI 6 update. However, the Tab S7 series will remain a great device to meet the customer’s needs.
