Galaxy S25 Ultra users report “can’t add work profile” error with company portal

Setting up a work profile on your phone can help you keep your work and personal data separate. This is done using a cloud-based MDM solution like Microsoft Intune. Most employees working in a company want to set up a work profile that keeps their privacy maintained while managing company-related work.

Recently, there have been some issues adding work profiles to the Galaxy S25 Ultra device. Users report the issue after facing the problem on various platforms, including community forums and Reddit. It seems that all models in the S25 series (including those from T-Mobile and Verizon) are facing a similar error. Let’s understand the issue!

A user reports in the community forum regarding the issue that he installed the company portal on the new S25 Ultra device. While creating the work profile, the user faces the error message “Can’t add work profile.” The user said that the work profile was added seamlessly to his S24 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra. Further, in investigating the error, the user has to face the blame game between Samsung and the company’s IT department.

However, one of the users replied to the post that he faced the same issue with his S22 Ultra and solved the problem. He found that Google security on the phone might have prevented the Intune company portal from creating the work profile. That is also not confirmed, though!

However, it was found users migrating from Google Pixel 7 Pro to Galaxy S25 Ultra have not faced the issue, as shared by a Redditor. Overall, the root cause of the problem is still unknown.

How to solve the work profile not adding issues?

There are a few workarounds tried by users, while it worked for some but not for others. Samsung definitely needs to address the issue and resolve it as soon as possible.

The majority of the people in the forum speak of waiting till the 7th of Feb to resolve the issue. It might be that the S25 lineup is not listed in the Android Enterprise partner yet. And on the date mentioned, it will be official.

Meanwhile, you can try the following workarounds:

  • Remove the existing Work Profile from your old phone. Either manage the accounts or clear the storage of the company portal.
  • You can always try resetting the device and try fresh enrollment with the company’s portal (Intune) and then set the Google settings.
  • The next thing you can try is checking the company portal is disabled in the device policy manager. For that, navigate to Settings>Security & Privacy> Device Admin apps. If it was disabled, try enabling it.

Any new workaround found will be notified soon. Until then, we will have to wait patiently for any responses from Samsung officials.
