Galaxy S25 FE Rumored to Feature Dimensity 9400 Chipset and Slim Design

Samsung has recently released the Galaxy S24 FE, which aims to offer the flagship experience of the Galaxy S24 series at a more affordable price of $649.

While the device has since received positive reviews from many critics, it seems that the company is already developing its successor, the Galaxy S25 FE, and new reports reveal the first details of the successor.

According to a report by the South Korean Publication The Elec, Samsung is planning a radical design change with the Galaxy S25 FE, which will focus on a slim design with the phone.

The Galaxy S24 FE’s thickness measures 8 mm, so the Galaxy S25 FE might have a thickness in the range of 7.5 to 8 mm. The usage of thinner batteries is reportedly achieving this despite keeping the same footprint as the S24 FE.

The report also affirms the display size of the Galaxy S25 FE, with the phone expected to have a similar 6.7-inch display as the S24 FE.

Interestingly, another source recently revealed that the Galaxy S25 FE might have a radical change in the raw performance on offer.

According to @Jukanlosreve on X (formerly Twitter), it seems that the Galaxy S25 FE could end up being the first Samsung phone to be powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity chipset, the Dimensity 9400.

This change comes as a result of two developments: Firstly, Samsung has recently collaborated with MediaTek to integrate its flagship Dimensity 9300+ chipset for the first time on the Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra.

Secondly, the complete absence of the Exynos 2500 next year means that there were initial plans to use the Dimensity 9400 for the Galaxy S25/S25+ while keeping the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset reserved for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, those plans have now been replaced, with the Galaxy S25 series seemingly going entirely Snapdragon-only worldwide, and the S25 FE expected to receive the Dimensity 9400 chipset.

Personally, I see the inclusion of a MediaTek flagship chipset as a major win. It will push Qualcomm to sell chipsets to Samsung at more competitive prices while further enhancing MediaTek’s brand and global reach due to the wide availability of Samsung phones. The Dimensity 9000 series has also been performing consistently better than Samsung’s flagship Exynos chipsets over the years.

However, it is to be noted that the S25 FE is in its product development phase and is still one year away. Consequently, take these leaks and reports with a pinch of salt.

Expect the S25 FE to debut sometime in September-October 2025.
