Galaxy S10 Lite Specs Overview
The Galaxy S10 Lite was released in early 2020 and offered many high-end features. It is a part of the Galaxy S10 lineup at a more affordable price. Let’s quickly take an overview of some of its key specifications –
- Display: The phone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 1080 x 2400 pixels.
- Processor: It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, a high-end chip used in several other flagship smartphones.
- RAM and Storage: The phone comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also has a microSD card slot for expandable storage.
- Cameras: The S10 Lite has a triple-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel macro lens. On the front, there is a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
- Battery: The phone has a 4,500mAh battery and supports fast charging.
- Other features: The Galaxy S10 Lite has an in-display fingerprint scanner, face recognition, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and runs on Android 10 with Samsung’s One UI 2.0.
S10 Lite Software Update History
Galaxy S10 Lite has undergone several software updates like every Samsung phone according to their policy. As mentioned above, the phone was launched in early 2020 on Android 10 with One UI 2.0 Samsung skin. Since then, S10 Lite has been revamped with all three major updates.
Samsung S10 Lite has been refined throughout its updates with many more security patches, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Notably, the phone has received several updates to improve the stability of its camera, Bluetooth, wifi, and many other customization features.
Being an S10 Lite user, you already have the advantage of getting the Android 13 base One UI 5.0 over the other S10 lineup. Compared to other devices in the S10 lineup, Samsung has launched the fan-base affordable S10 Lite with a bit more delay. This is why S10 Lite, a flagship phone, has enjoyed Android 10 (UI 2.0). And later on, with Samsung’s three years update policy, it reached its final verdict update of the Android 13 (UI 5.0) on November 2022. Now the question is will S10 Lite receive the One UI 6?
Galaxy S10 Lite One UI 6 (Android 14) Update Status
- The Galaxy S10 Lite will not receive the One UI 6 update based on Android 14.
Samsung strictly follows its policy of three-year major updates to its flagship phones launched in 2019 or later. As we mentioned in the update history, S10 Lite reached its final update in 2022.
However, the recent activity of Samsung cannot be unnoticed, leading to a possible conclusion of updating fan base phones to UI 6. In a tweet shared by tech-savvy Tarun, Samsung S10 Lite also got the update of 5.1 in March 2023. This is unexpected, as it got its final update of One UI 5.0 in 2022.
Possibilities can be anything, but breaking all the theory, let me tell you why S10 Lite will not receive the UI 6.0 Update.
The apparent reason it is not getting the UI 6.0:
- It has already faded with the Software update policy of Samsung. Maybe it can get the updated security patches for a few more months. Eventually, it has to end.
- Moreover, S10 Lite specifications cannot meet with the high-end featured phone for the next update of Android 14 One UI 6.0. For example, Galaxy S21 features upgraded specs, including more powerful chipsets, higher resolution displays, and more stable camera options than S10 Lite. So UI 6 skin will be far more suitable for the S21 series than S10 Lite.
Summary
Overall we can conclude; Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite is still a capable device and a prime mid-range flagship device in the S10 Line up. Moreover, with the later launch, S10 Lite has already survived more updates than S10’s other Lineup series. But it will not be eligible for One UI 6 or Android 14 updates.
