Galaxy Flip FE and S25 FE may feature Exynos 2500 as Samsung begins mass production

Due to its poor yield rates, Samsung did not implement the Exynos 2500 chip in the Galaxy S25 series. Many thought Samsung would skip that chip and work on the next-generation Exynos 2600 chip for next year’s Galaxy S flagship lineup.

But that turned out to be wrong, as Samsung System LSI mentioned in its earnings call (via Bryan Ma) that it’s optimizing Exynos 2500 and “aiming to secure design wins for mobile models scheduled for release in 2H.”

According to a report from Korean Media, The Bell, Samsung has started mass production of the 3nm Exynos 2500 processor. Wafer testing will begin early in March, and Nepas Arc and Doosan Tesna will handle it. If you are not aware, wafer testing is a method for checking product quality and helping to find and remove faulty products.

The Exynos 2500 production should be completed by April 2025. It will reportedly be implemented in the rumored Galaxy Z Flip FE, which is usually unveiled in July or August.

What’s interesting is that the Exynos 2500’s current yield rate is still below 50%, and its initial production quantity is 5,000 units per month. If this pans out, the Galaxy Z Flip FE will launch in limited quantity.

Besides, the Exynos 2500 chip is not limited to foldable devices; Samsung will likely use it in the Galaxy S25 FE. Samsung may improve the yield rate in the coming months, as there are still a few months left before the launch of the Galaxy S25 FE, which is usually unveiled in September and October.

In addition, the next-generation Exynos 2600 with a 2nm process is in the works. This chipset may be used in the Galaxy S26 series next year.
