Galaxy Buds 3 Pro was launched for $250, and they have significant hardware upgrades. There are two dedicated amplifier chips on Buds 3 Pro, ensuring a large power supply and an excellent volume range. You also get a driver upgrade. Dynamic Drivers are really good at bass; there is one for each side.
Planar Magnetic drivers are good for the mid-range and treble, so they use those, too. Planar drivers typically have weak bass, and using a combination of two drivers helps with the overall tonal balance of the TWS. It’s a hardware upgrade in every way. It also has remarkably better ANC compared to the previous generation.
Some of the design changes made are controversial. The buds themselves and also the case resemble Apple’s AirPods Pro in a way. They could not fit all the extra hardware without adding a stem since the Buds’ design was not suitable for that.
However, the new Silicone tips are very fragile. Many incidents on Reddit confirm the same. Silicone tips are very popular for good fit and ANC. They went on pre-order a while ago and were supposed to go on sale from July 24th. Samsung has now pushed this date by an extra month. It’s August 28th in the USA and 18th in the UK and Germany. The listing is no longer available on Amazon USA.
Once broken, you cannot fix the tips. Replacing them with in-box tips won’t work very well since they’re a different size. They rip apart and break while simply removing the tips from the earbuds. If they are removed the wrong way, they’ll break. Samsung has an entire guide on how to remove the tips. The plastic ring is attached to the Buds, which is an issue with the new design.
As per Samsung, this is their statement:
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the customers who participated in the pre-sale of the Galaxy Buds 3 series and others that took place until July 18th.
We deeply apologize for any quality issues you may have encountered with some of the products you purchased during the pre-sale period.
If you experience any inconvenience with the product you purchased, you can visit a nearby service center to receive appropriate measures such as exchange or refund.”
We will do our best to thoroughly inspect all processes before the official domestic launch on the 24th to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
